Now I want to post about Japanese Festival or Matsuri. *by the way, I’m posting this so I can easily print it and so, you got more information right?

The festivals that I want to talk about is Tanabata, Hina-matsuri and Natsu-matsuri maybe.. Yep, hajimemashou! *and two extra festival… what is it? dunno, check it yourself -punched-*

• Tanabata

Okay, start with Tanabata. Firstly, Tanabata is a festival that happened on 7th July. This festival is celebrates the meet of Orihime (Vega) and Hikoboshi (Altair). According to legend, the Milky Way, a river made from stars that crosses the sky, separates these lovers, and they are allowed to meet only once a year on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month of the lunisolar calendar. The celebration is held at night. When the celebration was held, streets or malls are full of lanterns and other things.

And on the picture above is the most important things in Tanabata, it is Tanzaku papers, a piece of paper that usually you use for write out your wishes, and of course, the Bamboo tree, place to put the tanzakus. During Tanabata it is customary to write a wish on a piece of paper (aka Tanzaku) and hang it upon a bamboo tree, hoping the gods will observe them and grant them.

Did you recognize that tanzaku?

Yeah, we, otaku sometimes put otakuish act for something like this… LOL

In fact, if you’re feeling adventurous, here’s a site in Japan that allows you to put a Tanzaku on a bamboo tree in a Shrine called Tanabata Jinja without having to go through the hassle of going to Japan. (Unless you can read Japanese, I suggest using the help link I have provided; It displays pictures translating the requirements) - Tanabata Wishes website - Help -

As stated by Gigazine, the people at Ogori will make your entry into a Tanzaku, hang it upon a tree, and (if provided an email address) will email you a picture of your Tanzaku! Seems fun huh? *but the 7th July is over, maybe next year? :>

• Hinamatsuri

This festival is held on March 3 to celebrates the Girls’ Day. As you can see above, the platform is covered by a red carpet, and in top of it there are the dolls, Hina-ningyo.

The custom of displaying dolls began during the Heian period. Formerly, people believed the dolls possessed the power to contain bad spirits. Hinamatsuri traces its origins to an ancient Japanese custom called hina-nagashi (floating doll), in which straw hina dolls are set afloat on a boat and sent down a river to the sea, supposedly taking troubles or bad spirits with them. The Shimogamo Shrine (part of the Kamo Shrine complex in Kyoto) celebrates the Nagashibina by floating these dolls between the Takano and Kamo Rivers to pray for the safety of children. People have stopped doing this now because of fishermen catching the dolls in their nets. They now send them out to sea, and when the spectators are gone they take the boats out of the water and bring them back to the temple and burn them.

The platform to place the dolls also had some rule. There are seven platform to place the dolls, First platform (top) to Seventh platform (lowest). And, sometimes is more or less than seven platform though.. *But if you count it’s maybe not seven(or more), but more than seven(or more~), coz you also need to place the furniture too, ne? * For more information visit here.

Families generally start to display the dolls around mid-February and take down the platforms immediately after the festival. Superstition says that leaving the dolls out past March 4 will result in a late marriage for the daughter.

Oh yeah, they usually eat/drink something like shirozake, hina-arare, hishimochi, Chirashizushi, and Ushiojiru.

• Natsu Matsuri

Err… Yeah, Natsu matsuri… This festival is held on summer *of course it is…* I don’t know about the date though… I think its held at end of August. In this festival people usually wears yukata and they have fun by playing the games and buying some food from the stalls. Om nom nom~ :9 :away

Maybe the foods looks so great, and the games are looks so fun… But just watch your wallet, coz those things cost more work for you or your parents…

When it’s summer, usually there are also hanabi (fireworks) to be viewed. People usually see them in the best viewed place like the bridge… (somehow I don’t know what are I’m talking about…)

• Extra1: Japanase Cultural Festival (Bunkasai)

The Japanese Cultural Festival (Bunkasai) is an annual event held by most schools in Japan, from Nursery schools to universities at which their students display their everyday achievements. People who want to enter the school themselves or who are interested in the school may come to see what the schoolwork and atmosphere are like. Other than “Bunkasai” [文化祭], the cultural festivities are also known as “Gakuensai” [学園祭] which is actually part of the school curriculum where students have the chance to exhibit their learnings over the past year. They work with other students to get creative and prepare events/activities for the visitors. The festival usually takes place over two days on a weekend and is open to the public for students/parents/guardians who are interested in attending/sending their kids to the school as they get to experience and see for themselves what the school is like.

In the high schools, bunkasai is usually hold on Autumn……

• Extra2: Setsubun

Setsubun means Bean-Throwing Festival and it’s held on someday before the new season comes.

The name literally means “seasonal division”, but usually the term refers to the spring Setsubun, properly called Risshun (立春) celebrated yearly on February 3 as part of the Spring Festival (春祭 haru matsuri). In its association with the Lunar New Year, Spring Setsubun can be and was previously thought of as a sort of New Year’s Eve, and so was accompanied by a special ritual to cleanse away all the evil of the former year and drive away disease-bringing evil spirits for the year to come. This special ritual is called mamemaki (豆撒き, lit. bean throwing).

The Setsubun Beans~

Mamemaki (Bean-Throwing) is usually performed by the toshiotoko of the household (the male who was born on the corresponding animal year on the Chinese zodiac), or else the male head of the household. Roasted soybeans (called fuku mame (福豆)) are thrown either out the door or at a member of the family wearing an Oni (demon or ogre) mask, while the throwers chant “Oni wa soto! Fuku wa uchi!” (鬼は外! 福は内!). The words roughly translate to “Demons out! Luck in!” The beans are thought to symbolically purify the home by driving away the evil spirits that bring misfortune and bad health with them. Then, as part of bringing luck in, it is customary to eat roasted soybeans, one for each year of one’s life, and in some areas, one for each year of one’s life plus one more for bringing good luck for the year to come.

It is customary now to eat uncut makizushi called Eho-Maki (恵方巻) (lucky direction roll) in silence on Setsubun while facing the yearly lucky compass direction, determined by the zodiac symbol of that year. Charts are published and occasionally packaged with uncut makizushi during February. Some families will also put up small decorations of sardine heads and holly leaves on their house entrances so that bad spirits will not enter.

Okay, everything was started by this message on my phone. It’s said something like this: “Minna-san, in 15th September we, Nihon Club 71, will had some culinary tour. Please gather at school in 08.30 am, please do not come late. If you want to join us, please bring your supplies, anything you need. We will have a fun tour. Arigatou.” That’s it…

And then I come to downstairs and asked to my mom if I can come with them… She replied with simply yes and then asked the details about the tour. So, then the day came… I woke up in 07.00 am, turning on my laptop as usual, giving a little check to my social-networks accounts. I get to shower in 07.30 and end in 08.15—for me it’s a kind of long, and then I get dressed—punched—this part isn’t really important, so let’s skip it…

So, I arrived at the school, as the appointment said, and found that some of them already gathered. And, I saw that the one and only person that are in X grade—same as me—is my classmates. Uhuh… And when arrived I was asked by the Pres. for do some voting—again it isn’t really important, so just skip it… Then, after asked everyone to vote, the Pres. announced that we will go to Monas. Before that, we must go catch a senpai before we go… We go there with TransJakarta……… Oh god, why I’m this lazy? I was lazy to write the “how we get there” question… Skip, Skip, Skip!!

So we arrived at the Monas. Surely, it isn’t the first time I go to Monas, in fact, I have been to Monas many times… So much that I want to steal the gold on the top of it… Uhuh, that’s a joke, of course. The first thing we do in there is, take a little detour on the field and planning what will we doing there. After some discussion, some of the group is going to search some kind of ‘therapy garden’, I dunno what are they talkin’ ‘bout… Not a little… Then, the other part of the group, include me, go catch some food. We off to the place near parking lot, yeah~

After packed our stomach, we planned to see the other in the Monas inner field. But, unfortunately, the rain has dancing outside playfully, but it isn’t really that bad, so we still go to the inner field. Uh oh, the rain became stronger and stronger… But, don’t minding that, everyone keep going on… And no one brought any umbrella at all… What the? Yeah, I know that I wasn’t the one to talking, but… Okay, okay… The rain is happier now… They dancing playfully and happily, pouring us down until we get fully drenched… My clothes and hair are really fully drenched now, so are the others… Good isn’t it? Really… But I feels that this are very fun! It’s have been long time since I get drenched by a pour like this! It’s feels so fresh~ And I was trying make my face poured by the rain too, and it’s get the fresh feeling greater! Ahahaha…

Okay, we reached the gate but… Hey, it’s closed! Ugh, okay then, if you doing so… We will find other ways to get out. And then, we got going again, of course still drenched… And still walking in the rain. We keep walking until the rain poured bigger than before. This time, it made us really drenched than before. But that still give me a fresh feeling, don’t ask me why… As we reached the gate—nah, you can’t said it a gate! That’s just a simple green-colored fence. Ahahahaha… What the hell? So we must go another round to search the real gate with our body drenched like this? No, that’s a big NO. I simply had get enough of this… I want to get in already and get some shelter! So also everyone else…

So, we decided to climb the fence… But, that’s not really that easy. The fence is a little high, and… My feet can’t get on that high. So, first we climbed the stone-wall that a can be climbed, since it’s not that high, that had higher end that are higher than the fence. You bet… We jumped from the stone-wall and get on the top of the fence to make it less higher, and… We JUMP! Wohoo! At first, it’s true I was scared, but, if I didn’t get over my scaredy feeling I can’t pass the fence, an we will stuck there (and I was planning to join free running club, if I can’t get over with them, both the scaredy feeling and the high of the fence, how can I get in?)

One after one are jumping carefully, the others that already jumped get to the shelter to keep from the rain. Some of them are helping the other. You know it already… We are trespassing… Ufn… Isn’t it crazy? Really, this thing only can be done in this club you know… And of course… Trespassing is a bad thing. At first I was thinking we do not get caught… But, of course… That’s the meaning… Oh, well… I dunno what I’m must saying… So, we did get caught by the officers, but not that badly… We just asked by the officers to come to the locket, just the one of us, so the Pres. was the one to go… And such, we waited for about… I dunno, didn’t look at the time…

When she come back, the Pres. give us the ticket, one for Rp. 2.500,- And I heard from her, that she’s blamed by the officers, but she blow them back… Such a great pres. isn’t she? We are proud to have a great buchou like that, I admire her. Okay… We stayed to waiting the other part of the group… But, alas, when pres. calls them… They said… That they’re still eating… What the hell.. We already drenched like this and you’re still eating in peace like that? Suck… Ha-ah… Oh, well… What can we do then? The only thing we can do is waiting.

Okay, after they come, we go to the underground of the Monas to see the museum. Nothing really fun happened there, so… Next, we plan to go to the top of the Monas. Okay, then we go to buy the ticket… … This is really… Anything you want to say… The locket is already closed, I think we are really late, and you must predict the things that makes us late, you do. Have nothing to do, we get out of the Monas and then go to the Museum Gajah or National Museum.

Again, such a unfortunate day… The museum is about to close in 10 minutes again, since they’re closed in 16.00 (04.00 pm) Oh… Well, we decide to pull this off, and get back to home… But, not that easy, before we got to our home, we stopped in a mall (or anything you want to call it) named PGC… So, well, we got to eat Sate Padang, but not me… Yesterday before this, I already get to om-nom-nom them… Okay, we spend in there for about 2 hours ’till we really got home.

The first thing I do in the home is… Throw my body into the bed and trying to write this, but feels my body getting more tired (since before this I got to playing ice skating, and it’s makes my body cramped) I got into sleep before I realizing… That’s it, my journey, yesterday… My favorite part is when we are walking in the rain and get drenched, and when we jumped out of the fence… It’s so crazy… And the rain feels so great in my body. Ufn… :9 And after this I will really post the nendoroid puchi… you bet…

I hope I didn’t late to post about it… Ah, well, even so, I still post it… This is the real news updates after some not-so-important post *at least for me… tee-hee… *

Heyya folks! Just as you can see, I getting on some new project, firstly is the Vocaloid Lyric Translation [Indonesian only]… you can see it on the pages.

The Second project is I’m doing some manga/doujin translation. But I don’t do this on regular basis, just when I get some manga raw or doujin raw/online doujin that get my interest I will try to do it… And, don’t expect so much from me, I’m a pure amateur though… But I will try to get my quality better from time to time… By the way, for the translation I will translate it to English, so everyone can read it…

Okay, get into the topic, now I want to try posting some review, and this is my first review so I didn’t know if I do some mistake and if there something missing… I will try to review two animes and one game, you can see what are them in the categories (or tags)

1. Black*Rock Shooter

Umh, yeah, I already watched it long ago…. So here my reviews (sorry, no pictures, to lazy to get one… )

I don’t really want to complain about the story… It’s really… Normal. That’s what could I said… Likely, I do not want to complain, cause I can’t do any better than them. But I do say that the artworks is great (at least for me).

and… *cough*

As a yuri-fan, I do watch it with my semi-permanent yuri-google… *more likely I almost can’t get it off… * -ok that’s enough- -plaaak- Yeah, there are little yuri in the anime I could say… so that’s a plus *for yuri-fan I mean*

+ : you must have yuri-google to get this… And the artwork good too.

- : the story is to normal…

so my scoring : 70 (half-done)

2. Sono Hanabira OVA

O.O

fffffff………… just what the heck with this anime… I liked the visual-novel better!! >__> The pace is really~~~ fast… I don’t know what happen… And of course because of the pace, I can’t get any story in it! I… Do… Feel… Disappointed… This is totally some hentai anime… The animation is… ma-ma dane… *sigh* I did wished they do better in this OVA… >__> Not recommend for one that searching non-explicit yuri anime…

3. Project DIVA 2nd [Game]

OOHHH YEAHAY!!!

At least I can get my PSP worked again and now I can playing it again!

I’ve playing it for 3 days… I’ve already cleared all the songs, but…. somehow I just can get through 3 extreme… And I can’t get through Poppippo and Gekisou in Hard Level… sooo insane!! ~_~

Ok, let’s get into review…

I badly recommend it for any VOCALOID fans! Especially to them who’s had PSP in their hand. This game completely improved from the before sequel. The gameplay is getting harder but it’s just makes you more and more excited. The songs are superb too! Many of them are popular songs, and some is from the pjd1. All CFM and some fan VOCALOID are there… Modules superb too! I like Len with his School Gym! He’s looked very cool! >w< For the songs I like many of them such as; magnet, Promise, etc. But, you’ve need worked harder to get points for your needs… -.-’

Ok, it’s have been 4 days since ‘Project DIVA 2nd’ out. Anyone have played the game? That’s lucky for you…. Not for me though… *this isn’t post about pjd2 though, just read it if you want..*

To tell the truth, I haven’t played the game yet!!! Oh god… Now downloading the .iso by torrent, on 90% progress… Maybe you did think “Then just wait it and play it already huh?”, but I want to ask you again now… How?

I do own a PSP, but… I’m a fool, I upgrading the firmware before I get some information about that kind of thing… please blame me if you want… It’s true though… T_T

Anyone knows how to downgrade PSP with OFW 6.XX? I’m in Jakarta, so if anyone can help me please let me know!
